Doosan Hydrogen drone

Doosan Mobility Innovation (DMI) has partnered with C3 Drones and Robotics for the distribution and development of the Doosan Hydrogen drone for greener UAV solutions.

Doosan Mobility Innovation is focusing on the mobile application of hydrogen fuel cell technology, which is projected to provide diverse industrial solutions and contribute to public safety with green technology. DMI’s hydrogen fuel cell multi-copter can fly for up to 2 hours, with its remote vertical take-off and landing system.

Hydrogen can overcome the power limits of standard lithium-ion batteries, enabling drones’ longer endurance. It is expected that the growing demand for special-purpose hydrogen drones in use cases such as surveillance and survey of long linear assets will proliferate the technology.

The UAV industry is experiencing a groundbreaking innovation with the emergence of hydrogen fuel powered drones. These drones utilise hydrogen fuel cells to generate electricity to drive their brushless motors and propellers, unlike traditional lithium-ion battery-powered drones. With longer flight times, faster recharging, and zero emissions, hydrogen drones offer numerous advantages.

Advantages of the Doosan hydrogen fuel cell drone include:

  • 2 hours plus of flight time
  • Long-range allowing for new unthought-of use cases
  • Safe systems and easy hydrogen supply solutions
  • BVLOS capable with autonomous flight

With hydrogen fuel-powered drones becoming a game-changer in the UAV industry, more companies are exploring the potential of hydrogen fuel cell technology. We can expect to see a range of innovative applications in the coming years, paving the way for a more sustainable and efficient future.
